Since forming in Gothenburg, Sweden in 1990, IN FLAMES have had seven albums debut in the top ten in Sweden, including two #1 debuts. They have toured the globe countless times, performing alongside some of today’s biggest rock and metal acts, including METALLICA, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, DISTURBED and IRON MAIDEN, and have held several mainstage and headline spots at various music festivals around the world, including Ozzfest, Download Festival, Graspop, Taste of Chaos, Hellfest, Rock Am Ring / Im Park and many more.
The band’s 2016 album, »Battles« - recorded by multi Grammy-nominated producer, Howard Benson - debuted in multiple Top 10’s around the world, #6 in Germany.
After forming in Umeå 1991, Refused hit through the mid-nineties and with their third album The Shape of Punk to Come (1997) they created a certified classic. The hardcorepunk that the band became known for was mixed with influences from post punk, jazz and techno - along with political lyrics. The Shape of Punk to Come is still considered one of the most influential punks in history. Last release from the band was celebrated Freedom (2016), and according to the report, members are now from time to time in the studio to record new material. With a constant desire to develop and reinvent themselves and their music, Refused has become one of Sweden's most important bands, as well as a grand and explosive live experience, reaching new heights in the evening after evening.
The Swedish Hardcore band from the far North is a live act extraordinaire. With lead singer Alexander Hagman at the front, Raised Fist is a true force that continues to justify their credibility for notorious, energetic live shows. With songs like “Friends & Traitors”, “Perfectly Broken” and “Man & Earth” – Raised Fist is one of the most popular Hardcore bands right now. We look forward to their show at Borgholm Brinner this summer!
If In Flames are the metal giants of Sweden, then Graveyard are the hard rock heroes. Having won multiple Swedish Grammys and P3 Guld awards, as well as being praised by critics as one of the most interesting rock bands from Sweden, it goes without saying we are incredibly excited for what Graveyard will bring to Borgholm Brinner. Right now the Gothenburg band are working on their fifth studio album. There’s a good chance we will get to hear all new Graveyard material in the most beautiful setting this July at Borgholm on Öland!
The Canadian rock trio, Danko Jones has been described as one of the best live bands in the world. If you’ve seen the band, you know what we mean. It’s raw, live music with unrivaled energy that Swedish-loving Danko Jones like to bring to the Nordics. During their last trip in Scandinavia, they played to sold out crowds and enthusiastic critics in Sweden, Norway and Finland – leaving us starving for more. With their newest album “Wild Cat” released last September, together with other Danko classics such as “First Date” and “Lovercall”, we welcome Danko Jones to Borgholm!
Satyricon is one of the most influential bands in Norway’s Black Metal wave during the 90’s. The Oslo band made the world aware of Norwegian Black Metal and since then has developed into a more traditional heavy metal sound at their latest release. Their ninth album was released late 2017 and was called a “game changer” by Blabbermouth, with a score of 9/10. We look forward to seeing what the two members Satyr and Frost are coming to Borgholm Brinner this summer!
Dark Tranquillity shares the hometown of the main act and the festival hosts In Flames and is considered to be pioneers in Gothenburg’s metal scene. With their melodic death metal the scene has been evolving since the late 80’s with Anders Fridén from In Flames as singer in the band for the first five years. The five current members (with the singer Mikael Stanne) have been touring around the world, played at the classic metal festivals and the big scenes with their eleven (!) Acclaimed albums to choose songs from. We are looking forward to another addition from Gothenburg to the Öland festival at the end of July!
Comeback Kid is the Canadian Hardcore Punk band that has been wrecking it since the early 2000’s and They are still the talk of the Hardcore scene — their latest release being their sixth studio album “Outsider” in 2017. We’re happy to welcome a second Canadian band to the line-up – and to the first edition of Borgholm Brinner this summer!
The latest addition to this impressive line-up is the Swedish metal band Tribulation. Straight from Arvika, they are a metal band known far outside of the Värmland woods. Their fourth album, “Down Below”, was released in January and received praise from critics and fans alike. We can’t wait to see what Tribulation will bring to Borgholm Brinner this summer!
